A practical comparison

Q10 S5, S5+, X5 or X5+: separate the mop and dock choices

The four Roborock Q10 packages are easiest to distinguish on two separate choices: which mop the robot carries, and whether the included dock empties dust. Q10 S5 and S5+ are the VibraRise 2.0 vibrating-cloth models; Q10 X5 and X5+ use the automatic-lift pad. The plus sign changes the station to auto-empty dust, not to a mop-washing dock. Picking a Q10 by suction alone misses both differences.

Some U.S. retailer listings use alternate family names: Roborock pairs Q10 VF with S5, PF with X5, VF+ with S5+, and PF+ with X5+. Its family page also places VFS+ with S5+ and links to a Home Depot item spelled VSF+; the Roborock FAQ describes that pad as VibraRise 2.0 with both vibration and lift. Compare the included AED09LRR or SPCDZ04RR dock and robot code rather than reading a new system into the swapped letters.

Separate mop style from dock service

The Q10 S5 family is the vibration choice. Roborock's family page lists its VibraRise 2.0 cloth at 3,000 vibration cycles per minute with an 8mm module lift. The standard Q10 S5 has a small SPCDZ04RR charging dock; the Q10 S5+ pairs that S5 robot family with an AED09LRR auto-empty station. Both still ask you to fill the robot's combo tank, attach and dampen the cloth, then empty leftover water and wash and dry the mop after a run. The plus station collects dust; it does not handle wet-mop service.

The Q10 X5 family uses a flat reusable cloth on an automatic-lift module. Roborock lists an 8mm lift and a carpet-aware raising routine, not the S5's VibraRise 2.0 vibration. The base X5 also has a standard SPCDZ04RR charging dock; X5+ is the dust auto-empty package with AED09LRR. The X5's product page lists a 500ml dustbin. With either X5 package, you refill the robot tank and wash the cloth yourself; the plus sign moves dust, not water.

The two axes at a glance

  • Q10 S5: VibraRise 2.0 vibrating cloth; standard charging dock; empty dust by hand.
  • Q10 S5+: VibraRise 2.0 vibrating cloth; AED09LRR auto-empty dock; manually service the mop.
  • Q10 X5: automatic-lift pad; standard charging dock; empty dust by hand.
  • Q10 X5+: automatic-lift pad; AED09LRR auto-empty dock; manually service the mop.

Both base models include black and white finish variants under their own exact US listings, as do the plus packages. Finish is not a substitute for verifying the package name: the base S5 and X5 share a small charging-station shape, while the plus configurations include a larger dust dock.

Do not plan on swapping docks

Roborock's product-page FAQs say the plain Q10 S5 does not auto-empty even when placed on an S5+ dock; the X5 FAQ says the same of the X5 robot on an X5+ dock and notes that the plus dock is not sold separately. These are not confirmed dock-upgrade routes. The manual codes also differ by robot family: RRA0TAL for the S5 and RRA1TAL for the X5. The auto-empty configurations use the AED09LRR dock, while base packages use SPCDZ04RR. Buy the intended robot-and-dock box as one configuration and use the exact model name for replacement parts.

Shared limits that matter more than the feature list

All four Q10 variants use 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only according to their English FCC/IC manuals. A 5GHz-only network is therefore a hard incompatibility until the network setup changes. The manuals also say not to use these robots on high-pile carpet and caution that dark carpet may reduce effectiveness. The X5 automatic-lift routine and S5 VibraRise movement do not override that warning. If high-pile carpet is an essential route, select another model whose exact manual explicitly supports it.

Each body is 13.9 × 13.9 × 3.9 inches. A nominal four-inch gap leaves almost no margin for a rug, uneven floor or upholstery sag. Measure the narrowest part of the complete route before relying on a fit. The Q10 materials list a 5,200mAh battery and 10,000Pa maximum suction, but these are manufacturer specifications and do not guarantee route time or debris pickup. Roborock's runtime wording varies by exact page, so do not treat a maximum claim as the size of home the robot will clean on one pass.

The manual asks for at least three vacuum passes before the first mopping cycle. It describes manual tank filling and emptying and washing/air-drying the reusable cloth. The dust-empty dock reduces one small chore, but does not eliminate bin-bag changes, brush and filter care, sensor cleaning or mop upkeep. The base charging dock involves fewer station consumables but leaves you to empty the robot's dustbin after vacuuming.

Choose by the work you want to avoid

Choose Q10 S5 or S5+ if you specifically want the S5's vibrating cloth; choose X5 or X5+ if you want the X5's automatically lifted pad instead. From either pair, choose the plus package only if auto-emptying dust is useful and the bag station fits. Choose the base package if a compact charger is preferable and hand-emptying is acceptable. If you want a station to wash and dry mop pads and service water, the Q10+ is not that package; see the Qrevo Curv S5X review for a different dual-spinning-pad, water-service configuration. Read the exact Q10 S5, Q10 S5+, Q10 X5 and Q10 X5+ assessments for model-specific setup, care and box details.

Plan the whole route, not just the feature list.
