A practical comparison
Qrevo Curv, CurvX or Curv S5X: choose by fit and dock routine
The Roborock Qrevo Curv, Curv S5X and CurvX share a vacuum-and-spinning-mop concept, but the three US configurations split across clearance, navigation hardware and dock functions. Before comparing headline suction figures, measure the tightest route the robot must clean, identify any carpet the manual warns against, and decide whether you need hot-water pad washing, warm water during mopping or neither.
Three heights, three different furniture fits
The original Curv is listed at 4.1 inches high. The Curv S5X is 3.9 inches, a small difference that can decide a narrowly measured gap but leaves little margin under four-inch furniture. The CurvX is 3.14 inches and retracts its LiDAR for lower routes. A 3.5-inch gap might admit the CurvX on paper, but rugs, fabric and floor variation make the real opening smaller. Measure at the lowest point and leave room to spare; none of these product-page dimensions guarantees a successful route in a particular home.
Threshold height is separate. Roborock lists a maximum four-centimeter double-layer threshold for the Curv and about two centimeters for the S5X; each is a controlled manufacturer figure. A lower robot does not necessarily cross a taller floor track better. Measure both the overhead opening and each transition on the cleaning route.
Dock wash is not the same as water used on the floor
The Curv and S5X both list up to 75°C mop-pad washing at the dock. The CurvX raises that published dock-wash maximum to 80°C and also states that warm water is supplied to its robot during mopping. These are separate operations: washing a cloth in the station does not itself tell you the temperature of the water used on the floor. The S5X page lists dock wash and tank refill, but does not describe the CurvX warm-water delivery feature.
All three configurations use a large wet-maintenance station that can empty dust, handle water transfers and wash and dry reusable pads. That reduces some routine handling, not all of it. Expect to refill clean water, empty dirty water, replace dust bags, inspect cloths and clean the tray. If you do not want tanks or mop maintenance, compare vacuum-only robots instead.
Navigation and carpet limits matter more than a suction leaderboard
Roborock lists 18,500Pa for both the original Curv and S5X, and 22,000Pa for the CurvX. These are manufacturer maximums, not direct pickup measurements for your floor. The S5X uses LDS with structured-light obstacle avoidance, without the Curv's RGB camera/remote-view package or the CurvX's retractable-LiDAR design. Its 5,200mAh battery is below the Curv's 6,400mAh figure. The CurvX page lists 108 recognized object types; counts do not guarantee avoidance of every cable or household object.
Read the carpet instructions carefully. The Curv and CurvX marketing pages discuss mid-, long- or higher-pile settings, while both US manuals warn against high-pile carpet. The S5X's page advertises carpet modes and a hair-removal claim, but its manual also says not to use it on high-pile carpet and warns dark carpet may reduce effectiveness. Because the manufacturer materials do not resolve those limits, none of these three is a sound match when explicit high-pile coverage is essential.
Pick the tradeoff that solves a real problem
Choose the original Curv when 4.1 inches clears the route, its larger battery or camera features matter, and a 75°C dock wash is enough. Choose the S5X when a measured four-inch-or-taller route admits its 3.9-inch body, you prefer LDS/structured light without an RGB camera package, and its 75°C wash and 5,200mAh battery fit the routine. Choose the CurvX when a lower 3.14-inch body, retractable LiDAR, 80°C wash or documented warm water during mopping is a genuine requirement. All three require 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and app setup; a 5GHz-only network rules them out.
