Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra with Refill & Drainage System review

The S8 MaxV platform in a fixed-supply-and-drain package; the install route, plumbing and shutoff access matter as much as the robot features.

A useful fit for

A fit only when the selected station location supports a fixed supply/drain installation and you want the dock to refill and empty water automatically. Check pressure, drain path, space, threshold access, outlet and shutoff before choosing; this is not a drop-in tank station.

The main tradeoff

The plumbing connection replaces removable tank chores with fixed installation and leak-check responsibilities. EWFD14LRR is identified by the RDS manual, but the separate threshold route limit applies between dock and cleaning area—not to robot crossing performance. A 5GHz-only network, 3.5-inch passage, essential high-pile rating, 2cm robot threshold claim or 75°C dock-wash minimum is not supported by confirmed facts.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does the exact RDS S8 MaxV Ultra package use fixed supply and drain water service?

Yes. The exact RDS offer and linked manual specify a fixed supply and drain with the EWFD14LRR Auto dock.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the supplied RockDock wash and dry the VibraRise 3.0 cloth?

Yes. The exact package page lists dock mop washing and heated-air drying, and names VibraRise 3.0; the 140°F dock-wash claim is an internal maker claim, not floor-mop water temperature.

Explore this need in the finder →
Will the 4.06-inch robot meet a 4.25-inch route clearance?

The listed robot height is 4.06 inches, so a 4.25-inch nominal opening leaves little margin; measure the actual route and flooring.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the S8 MaxV Ultra support 2.4 GHz, and can it use a 5 GHz-only network?

The exact U.S. product page and FCC manual state 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only; 5 GHz is not supported.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the maker publish a supported high-pile height, and is this a fit if such support is not essential?

No numerical high-pile support is published. It can be considered only when a confirmed pile-height capability is not essential; automatic mop lift is not a carpet rating.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is the absence of a robot threshold maximum acceptable if a published threshold figure is not essential?

The exact product materials do not state a generic robot threshold maximum; the RDS dock-to-room route limit is separate.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is up-to-60°C dock mop washing enough when a 75°C minimum is not essential?

Roborock claims up to 60°C/140°F at the dock, not floor-mop water temperature; a 75°C minimum would exclude this package.

The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra with Refill & Drainage System keeps the S8 MaxV robot and its 8-in-1 RockDock functions but changes how water reaches the dock. Rather than carrying tanks, this U.S. package connects to a water supply and drain. It can reduce a recurring chore only if the home can support a permanent, correctly installed station. Roborock’s U.S. page showed the offer out of stock and coming soon on October 24, 2026; availability may change, and this dated snapshot is not a discontinuation finding.

The exact U.S. listing has one default variant, SKU RR-S80MaxVUltraRDS-M1. The linked RDS FCC manual identifies robot S82USV and Empty Wash Fill Dock Auto EWFD14LRR. That manual also lists other compatible dock models, but EWFD14LRR is the Auto dock whose parameters it documents for this RDS version. Keep this distinct from the tank-dock package, whose page does not publish the included dock suffix. The robot’s matching features do not make the two dock packages interchangeable.

Confirm the plumbing route before choosing this version

The exact RDS manual gives a 0.1–0.4 MPa water-inlet range and says to install a pressure-reducing valve if pressure exceeds 0.4 MPa. Its parts diagram calls out a 1/4-inch inlet pipe and a 3/8-inch drain line. The drain opening must be at least 15 mm; the highest point of the drain line may be no more than 1 m above the dock floor, with 0.5 m or less preferred. Use room-temperature tap water only—no hot or reclaimed water—and put the dock on a hard, level surface against a wall.

Roborock’s product FAQ recommends keeping refill and drain lines within 6 m of the dock and not routing them through a doorway or corridor. It calls for at least 30.5 cm of height, 42 cm of width and 100 cm of depth, plus good Wi-Fi, a grounded outlet and safe access to the water shutoff. The manual’s 2 cm limit for thresholds, slide rails or steps between the dock and cleaning area is a setup-route warning, not a general robot threshold-crossing rating. The exact page says to disconnect power and shut off the water before installation, then inspect the app self-check for successful filling, drainage and leaks. If the route, drain or shutoff is uncertain, resolve that before purchase rather than treating this as a simple plug-in dock.

Hot dock washing is not warm-water floor mopping

The RDS listing describes hot-water mop washing, heated-air drying, automatic dust emptying, robot-water refill, self-cleaning, detergent dispensing and automatic mop care. Roborock says the dock can wash with up to 140°F (60°C) water; the exact page describes the claim as internal testing at standard room temperature and says actual temperature varies. The manual’s room-temperature tap-water requirement describes the line feeding the dock. Neither source publishes a numeric temperature for water applied by the robot to the floor, so do not use the dock’s wash temperature as a warm-mop-cycle specification.

The robot itself is listed at 13.8 by 13.9 by 4.06 inches, with a 5,200 mAh lithium-ion battery. Roborock lists 10,000 Pa suction under its IEC 62885-2:2021 / 5.11 Max+ full-battery test; that is a manufacturer rating, not an independent measure of carpet pickup. VibraRise 3.0 uses two vibration modules and a cloth, and Roborock says it lifts up to 20 mm over carpet. The manual describes retracting the cloth mounts on carpet but provides no maximum pile-height claim. If a supported high-pile limit is non-negotiable, treat this as an unknown rather than relying on mop lift.

Mapping and app fit still matter

PreciSense LiDAR makes mapped cleaning possible, while the page adds an RGB camera, 3D structured light and Reactive AI 2.0. Roborock’s claim of 73 recognized object types comes from its own testing, with recognition accuracy varying by conditions. It can help route around common items but is not a promise that cords, socks, toys or pet messes will always be avoided. The exact page and FCC manual support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. A 5 GHz-only network does not meet the documented setup requirement.

Automatic water service shifts work; it does not eliminate upkeep. A dust bag, solution cartridge, mop cloth and wash components still need inspection or replacement, and the station remains tied to its supply and drain. Its listed dock dimensions are 16.1 by 16.5 by 11.8 inches, but the page does not label the dimension axes. Measure the real recess and allow free space for the robot to approach and depart. The page says the cleaning-solution tank is 580 ml and claims over three months in balanced-mode internal tests; usage varies, the solution is sold separately, and the manual prohibits disinfectants.

Who should buy the RDS package?

Choose it when the desired station location already has an appropriate tap-water source, an accessible drain and safe pipe routing—and when the household would rather verify a fixed installation than lift tanks. The finder’s plumbed choice includes this package; the tank-only choice excludes it. A 3.5-inch clearance, 5 GHz-only Wi-Fi, a required high-pile rating, a published robot threshold minimum or a 75°C dock-wash minimum will not fit its confirmed facts. The dock-to-room 2 cm route warning is still relevant even though there is no published robot threshold maximum.

If plumbing is impractical, the standard tank S8 MaxV Ultra keeps the same named robot platform while returning water handling to removable reservoirs. A side-by-side setup comparison helps decide which maintenance fits your home; the Saros 10 RDS is another distinct plumbed configuration with different robot specifications. Read the exact U.S. RDS page and the linked RDS FCC manual, and verify the offer is the RDS SKU rather than the removable-tank package.
