A useful fit for

A fit for a home wanting a wash-and-dry mop station, automatic mop-mount removal for vacuum-only runs, 2.4 GHz setup, and a documented 22 mm maximum threshold claim, provided removable water tanks and routine station care are acceptable.

The main tradeoff

Dreame advises avoiding medium/high-pile carpet over 3 mm and gives no maximum supported pile height; 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is required; the 70 C figure is for dock pad washing rather than floor mopping; the base uses removable tanks, and the TriCut main brush is sold separately.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Will the dock location have an available 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection?

The US-A00 manual supports 2.4 GHz only and explicitly says 5 GHz is unsupported. A 5 GHz-only home network is not a fit unless another 2.4 GHz network is available at the base.

Is a 2.2 cm maximum threshold claim enough for your measured route?

Dreame lists a 22 mm maximum. It may justify checking a roughly 2 cm threshold, but it cannot qualify for a 3 cm minimum and is not a guarantee for every edge shape.

Explore this need in the finder →
Does the manufacturer's 12,000 Pa maximum suction rating meet the minimum you want to compare?

The X40 Ultra U.S. page lists 12,000 Pa based on Dreame Lab tests. That can meet a 12,000 Pa specification filter, but it is not independent pickup testing; a higher essential threshold should exclude it.

Explore this need in the finder →
Do you need a machine that can vacuum and mop, rather than a vacuum-only robot?

The manual documents vacuum-only, mop-only, combined vacuum-and-mop, and mop-after-vacuum modes. It meets a general vacuum-and-mop need, not a vacuum-only product requirement.

Can you live with removable clean- and used-water tanks instead of a fixed-plumbed dock?

Yes: the standard U.S. base uses 4.5 L and 4.0 L removable tanks. The separate hookup kit is not listed as included and is available only in specific regions.

Is heated dock pad washing useful if it does not mean 75 C water is applied to the floor?

The U.S. product page claims up to 70 C for washing pads and the washboard. The manual says not to put hot water in the clean-water tank, and no floor-mopping water temperature is specified.

The Dreame X40 Ultra is a U.S. robot vacuum-mop with a station that transfers dust, washes and dries the mop pads, and refills the robot. Dreame’s U.S. manual identifies the robot as RLX63CE and the matching base as RCXE0307. The official U.S. product record lists black SKU 010204AA000365 and white SKU 010204AA000784 as finish choices for this product. Both variants were marked unavailable in the captured record and the product page showed “Sold Out” when checked on October 24, 2026; that is a dated observation, not a forecast of stock. The black image here is the exact manufacturer studio render, not an in-home photo.

Choose the cleaning routine, not just the suction headline

The robot comes with two mop pads and detachable holders. The manual describes vacuum-only, mop-only, combined vacuum-and-mop, and vacuum-then-mop modes. For vacuum-only, the station removes the mop assembly; it reinstalls it before a mopping task. That helps keep damp pads off some rugs, but does not define a maximum carpet-pile depth.

Dreame lists maximum suction of 12,000 Pa based on its lab tests; this is not a measured pickup result or cross-brand performance scale. The TriCut main brush is sold separately, not part of the standard package. The U.S. page also lists a lifting, extending side brush and a mop-edge extension. Those hardware features do not guarantee complete edge pickup.

What the station handles—and what you still do

The station empties the 300 ml robot bin into a 3.2 L bag, washes and hot-air dries the pads, cleans its washboard, and refills the robot from removable 4.5 L clean- and 4.0 L used-water tanks. Dreame’s “up to 75 days” is a capacity claim, not a household schedule. The manual calls for cleaning the used-water tank after each task, the clean-water tank every two weeks, and the washboard periodically. Fixed plumbing is not included: the manual describes a separately purchased hookup kit for certain regions, and Dreame’s comparison table does not list it for X40 Ultra.

The 158°F/70°C claim is for dock pad and washboard cleaning, not water applied to floors. Dreame says the outlet reaches up to that temperature under a stated room-temperature test condition and may vary. The manual says to add clean water—not hot water—to the tank. The package includes a detergent compartment and solution; the manual restricts it to Dreame-approved fluid.

Measure thresholds and protect rugs

Dreame lists a 22 mm maximum obstacle-crossing height. That is not a promise for every 2.2 cm doorway lip: shape, approach and a rug edge matter, so measure and leave margin. The page also names AI RGB and 3D structured-light avoidance and claims recognition of over 120 object types in Dreame’s tests. A category count is not proof of reliably avoiding every cable or small object; clear the floor before unattended runs.

The pads lift by 10.5 mm, but Dreame’s own note advises using carpet-avoidance settings for medium and high-pile carpet with pile above 3 mm to reduce wetting risk. That is a reason to check your exact rug settings, not a published high-pile rating. The page does not establish a maximum supported carpet height. If a particular deep rug is a must-clean surface, this review cannot verify the X40 Ultra for that requirement even though the robot can detach its mop assembly.

Check the outlet, network and station space

The manual identifies the RCXE0307 base as 120 V/60 Hz and requires a grounded nominal 120 V outlet; do not use an adapter. It supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, not a 5 GHz-only network. It lists a 6,400 mAh battery and about 4.5 hours to recharge, but no comparable all-mode runtime guarantee. Leave over 1.5 m in front and 5 cm at each side of the dock, as the setup diagram directs, and keep its tanks and bag accessible.

Who should shortlist the X40 Ultra?

Shortlist this configuration for pad washing/drying, automatic mount removal on vacuum-only runs, a claimed 2.2 cm threshold maximum, and 2.4 GHz setup—if you accept removable tanks and regular station care. Skip it if you require a supported high-pile limit, a 5 GHz-only connection or fixed U.S. plumbing.

Compare the L40 Ultra Gen 2 if you prefer its 25,000 Pa maker claim, but it does not automatically remove its mop mounts and its sources publish no numeric pad-wash temperature. The X50 Ultra has a retractable sensor and separate 4.2 cm single-step claim, but is a different package. These specifications do not predict which will clean better in your rooms; prioritize route, carpet, dock and network fit.
